Calling all MANA members!
Now is the time to join in the conversation about Midwifery and Health Care Reform. With the encouragement of President Obama, Congress is writing Health Care Reform bills this summer. We feel that it is essential to include midwifery in all that is happening. And we want you to be a part of this exciting moment in history.
Here's how you can get involved:
President Obama highlights three principles that any comprehensive health care reform must achieve:
- Reduce cost
- Guarantee choice
- Ensure that all Americans have quality, affordable health care.
The Midwives Model of Care can easily address all three principles.
On Saturday, June 27th, inspired Americans will participate in a Health Care Reform Day of Service. This is a day that we can be a part of. Anyone can participate, and now is the time to plan your event in your area. Go to my.barackobama.com to register your event with Organizing for America. The website will also give you ideas and resources to plan your event. Individuals all over the country will be participating in various activities to help promote health care change. We can create events that showcase midwifery. How about a free baby fair with classes and workshops or a free prenatal care day? The sky is the limit. Just make sure that your event is titled: Midwifery and Health Care Reform! After your event, go back to the website and recommend including Certified Professional Midwives in all health care reform.
The Midwives Alliance would like to encourage all of our members to help us by organizing an event in your area on Saturday June 27th.
