MANA 2015 Abstract Submission Form

If you would like to present a session at MANA 2015 in Albuquerque, please fill out the following abstract submission form by February 13. You will be notified by March 15 if your session is accepted. At that point, you will be required to fill out and submit, before April 1, a more complete form with information we will need to apply for CEUs for your session.

We highly recommend you keep a copy of all this information for your records.

  • Many of the fields are mandatory and must be filled in before you can submit your form.
  • Fill out a separate form for each different session you would like the committee to consider.
  • Incomplete submissions will not be considered.
  • More information on creating posters is provided here.
  • Compensation: Presenters will be offered a complimentary registration for the day of their presentation (not including pre-conference or poster presenters). For example, a presenter who speaks on Friday will receive Friday for free and will only need to register “single days” for Saturday and/or Sunday if she desires to remain on site for those days. Registration will be required in all cases.
  • Presenters whose abstracts are accepted are responsible for arranging and covering their own conference registration and fees, travel, accommodations, and other expenses related to their presentation.
  • ALL presenters, including poster presenters, are required to register with the registrar for the conference.

Thank you for your willingness to share your expertise with us as you complete this abstract submission form.

Please fill out the information below on the main speaker to contact if more than one will be presenting.

* Please note that because half and full day pre-conference workshops are offered at an additional cost to the conference registration, MANA shares profits 50/50 with presenters AFTER expenses are deducted. For the 2015 conference, expenses will be primarily Audio Visual rental and labor expenses. We do not offer coffee breaks or meals on pre-conference day. MANA will confer with selected presenters to set fees. (Recent fees for comparison sake have been approximately $75 for half day and $150 for full day workshops).

Please answer the following three questions (in under 200 words combined) keeping the following in mind:

The Midwives Alliance is committed to fostering a community rooted in critical cultural competence in which we celebrate as well as deeply examine how our myriad cultures impact the field of maternal care. As you complete this presentation abstract, please be mindful of—and describe in writing—how the content of your presentation applies to and impacts people of diverse racial, ethnic, sexual identity, gender, religious, or socioeconomic backgrounds. If you are not certain how to address these questions, please make a note in the box that you'd like assistance with it, and continue to complete your submission.

Definition of Critical Cultural Competency: possessing knowledge, skills, and attitudes that foster cross-cultural capacity in education, program execution, service provision, relationship building; critical cultural competence also entails critical awareness and consciousness of self, others, and the social constructs and power structures that impact and shape the contextual relevance of programs, services, interpersonal interactions, educational development, etc.

Thank you for your willingness to share your expertise at MANA 2015!

You will be notified by March 15, 2015 if your session is accepted.
