Online Community Manager: Are YOU That Person?
The Midwives Alliance is seeking three to four dedicated volunteers who are both fluent in social media and conversant in the issues related to midwifery and childbirth options. MANA is growing our outreach efforts to educate an ever-wider audience about birthing options and midwives in order to change the discourse about childbirth in America. We need three to four people to be MANA’s Online Community Managers who:
- Can work as a team to conduct a “Daily Social Media Workout”
- Have the time to commit a total of five to ten hours every week as a combined team (approximately 2-3 hours per person, per week)
- Love people and are good at interacting with a diverse pool of online users
- Have the skills to maneuver online quickly and efficiently
- Are able to engage in social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Flickr, Vimeo, YouTube, iTunes, Internet research, blogging, etc.)
- Are good writers, possess a solid knowledge of grammar and writing techniques, and are effective communicators
- Are familiar with the current issues related to midwifery, choices in childbirth, and the healthy birth movement
- Love to learn!
We will be conducting an Online Community Managers’ training in January that will run for thirteen weeks. You must be able to attend webinar sessions in weeks 6, 8, 10, and 12 for one hour each week and begin as an Online Community Manager in Spring 2012. You must be able to commit to volunteering for a minimum of twelve continuous months.
This is a fabulous opportunity for someone who is looking for a place to plug in to the gentle birth movement and be an advocate for the midwifery model of care without having to leave your home or commit an inordinate amount of time to do it! If you are interested, please e-mail ASAP to <info@mana.org>. Use “PR Volunteer” in the subject line, and provide a very short summary of your skills and interest.
Thank you!
